My internship involved collaborating with two managers on distinct projects. In one project, I focused on Brightree's inventory management system. I explored their website to understand its functionalities and then leveraged those insights to design an inventory management app specifically for warehouse workers. This process also included identifying usability challenges on the website, which I addressed while building the app prototype. The other project centered on modernizing the company's patient intake interface, making it more user-friendly.
First, I focused on bringing the user experience into the modern era. This meant revamping interfaces to be more user-friendly and intuitive. I aligned them with current design trends to create a familiar and comfortable experience for users. Next, I tackled workflow efficiency. My goal was to significantly reduce the number of steps or clicks required to complete tasks. By streamlining the processes, I aimed to make them faster and more effortless for users. By achieving these goals, we anticipated a significant boost in user satisfaction and hoped that users would find the projects not only easier to interact with but also faster to navigate.
Here is was my weekly routine looked like for both projects.
- Met with managers on Microsoft Teams & received an explanation of the current state of the product, the problems, and possible solutions
- Received a list of requirements for elements that needed to be changed or added
- Created wireframes and high-fidelity mockups based on the information provided
- Met with managers 1-2 times per week to discuss the work I did
- Refined my work based on feedback given during the meetings
